CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) - A two vehicle crash south of Carlsbad killed two people Thursday morning.
It happened around 7 a.m. on U.S. 285.
State police say a GMC truck veered into a trailer being pulled by a ford pickup.
Two people in the GMC were killed and another passenger was airlifted to a hospital in Lubbock with back injuries.
The victim's names have not been released.
Police say the preliminary investigation shows the driver of the GMC truck fell asleep at the wheel and alcohol does not seem to be a factor.
