LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A group of indigenous runners making a journey from Alaska to Panama are scheduled to stop in Las Cruces.
The Las Cruces Sun-News reports ( http://bit.ly/NzQH18 ) that members of the "Peace and Dignity 2012" runners are expected to rest Wednesday in Las Cruces and are inviting the public for prayers and blessings before continuing onto Central America.
According to the group's Facebook page, the runners' journey is taking six months and runners travel on four routes — one going through Las Cruces — to stop at hundreds of American Indian and indigenous communities along the way.
Other runners have started from the bottom of South America and they will meet North American runners in Panama for an event centered on peace.
