ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An elderly woman found dead early Saturday morning following a house fire in the northeast heights.

This morning Albuquerque fire officials are still investigating how the fire started.

AFD says a neighbor called 911 just before eight Saturday morning, telling dispatch they could see flames shooting out the back of the victim's house near academy and Eubank and they could see the woman still inside.

When firefighters arrived they found the woman's body in a back bedroom.

She was in her mid to late eighties.

While it Is unclear how the fire began, Fire officials say the woman was a smoker and may have been using oxygen.

No one else was home at the time.
