ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Retail toy sellers say some of the more popular toys in demand by parents this Christmas are not just fun, but they're also educational.

"Parents are coming more for the learning toys as opposed to the fun toys," says local Toys 'R' Us Store Manager Char Kochersberger. "We always sell a ton of pre-school toys for the early learners getting a head start on their kids education."

The Leap Pad 2 educational computer-tablet like device starts off at around $100, is an already popular item that's been updated. The device also comes with two cameras for children to use.

For around $50, most parents are helping their kids get a head start on learning the alphabet.

"Another popular toy would be the V-Tech Alphabet Activity Cube ," says Kochersberger. "This helps children learn their alphabet and also keeps them active. The cube actually flips around and all four sides of the cube can be used."

Ten dollars more in the $60 range will get you the iTikes Map.

"It actually has six different subjects brought to life," says Kochersberger. "It talks about the United States, dogs around the world, cats around the world. It will actually talk to them about the solar system and also about prehistoric North America."

If video games are more your speed and if you have the cash, make that around $300, there's the Wii-U .

"It actually comes with a gaming console and a screen for more interactive play and it does go along with all the Wii games," adds Kochersberger.
