Some riders behaving badly on bus

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An angry passenger Friday caused a scene on a city bus.

”I am trying to get on the bus to get home,” Charles Faust told KRQE News 13.

Faust says he asked the driver to take his money from him and put it in the slot for him but that's against policy for drivers to touch a passenger's money.

“That's bull**** that's bull****,” Faust is caught on the bus’ cameras saying.

The city says its bus drivers have had run-ins with Faust before and Friday it came to a head.

“I can't ride the bus any more,” Faust said.

This isn't the only passenger the city has had problems with recently.

Last year a passenger tried to slug a driver and started a fight. Another woman who appeared to be drunk flipped out when the driver told her to get off the bus in another incident.

The city says more riders mean more problems.

“As our ridership has grown five to seven percent in the past four years since 2008, we are starting to see more and more people, not all of them, we see more and more people who act inappropriately,” Rick De Reyes with the city said.

The city says drivers have to keep their cool even if someone else doesn't.

“Somebody cursing you or taking a swing at you is completely inappropriate,” said De Reyes. “I don't know how some of them can take it sometimes.”
