ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A semi completely engulfed in flames shut down a portion of Interstate 40 early Sunday.
Around 4:30 Sunday morning calls came in that an 18-wheeler was on fire near the Route 66 Casino.
Bernalillo county fire crews rushed to the scene and started pumping water onto the big-rig, but it was a total loss.
While crews fought the fire, east bound lanes near the casino were blocked off for several miles.
No word yet on what started the blaze or if anyone was injured.
The driver was able to un-hook cab of the truck before it caught fire.
