ALBUQEURQUE (KRQE) - It was a winning weekend for some New Mexico lottery players.
Someone is $250,000 richer Monday in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing. Another person hit the Power Ball jackpot on Saturday.
In all more than 87,000 winning tickets were sold in the New Mexico
The mega millions jackpot turned out to be even higher than first reported. It climbed to an historic $656 million.
Thousands of New Mexicans flooded stores, hoping to cash in on their luck.
So far seven people in the state missed the jackpot by just one number, but they will still get $10,000 each for their efforts.
Someone also won $250,000 in the drawing, but they have not claimed their prize yet.
“People are all different some come in right away they just can't wait others are sort of flummoxed and they don't know what to do so they collect their thoughts wait a little bit and come in over a longer period of time but it's going to be fun when we meet them it will be fun to find out what it felt like,” Linda Hamlin with the New Mexico Lottery said.
Three people hit all the numbers and will divvy up the grand prize.
The winning tickets were sold in Kansas, Illinois and Maryland.
