ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The state's new tourism push is paying off with a little free national attention.

The Wall Street reports our state spends far less than our neighbors on tourism promotion $2.5 million compared to $7 million in Arizona and $12 million a year in Colorado.

Tourist trips to New Mexico dropped by nearly 10 percent in the past three years, and spending on souvenirs fell by hundreds of millions of dollars.

Tourism secretary Monique Jacobson told news 13, the article and pictures should help address some of the misconceptions that hurt the state's tourism.
