ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Officials say alcohol may have led to a drowning death Saturday at a northeast Albuquerque apartment complex.

Paramedics were called to the Aztec Village apartments around 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, after reports someone had drowned in the complex pool.

A witness who did not want to go on camera told KRQE News 13 the man who drowned was heavily intoxicated when he went swimming, collapsing in the water.

The resident also said Saturday was the first day the pool was open, after four years of being closed.
