ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Three teens are recovering after surviving freezing temperatures while lost in the Sandia Mountains overnight.
Albuquerque police dispatchers got a call around 6 p.m. Friday from the three teenagers who said they were lost on La Luz Trail.
A police spokesperson said the kids were visiting from Missouri and were dressed only in shorts and T-shirts.
Authorities found the teens suffering from hypothermia on a cliff ledge around 11:30 p.m. about 2.5 miles from the trailhead.
The teens say their phone batteries died.
They were reunited with family friends around 2 a.m.
