ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The people working to find the parents of a girl unable to speak to officers succeeded late Saturday hours after she was found in Albuquerque's South Valley.
The girl, estimated by deputies to be 10-13 years old, appeared to be developmentally challenged, a spokesperson for the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department said earlier in the day.
Deputies described the her as communicating by pointing and nodding her head.
The girl was found about 11 a.m. Saturday in the area of the 2300 block of Durand Road SW.
At about 8 p.m. the the sheriff's department reported the parents had been located.
Details on finding the girl and then the parents have not yet been released.
At last report the girl was in the care of the state Children, Youth and Families Department.
