Expo NM fights image problem with ad campaign

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Expo New Mexico is hoping a new ad campaign will help them show their image.

Last month, Expo New Mexico put out a request for proposals from ad agencies.

The company that is picked will have the challenge of making ads to convince New Mexicans that the fair is a safe place to visit.

“The number of police incidents has steadily decreased every year. There’s just fewer arrest, fewer dwi's...it keeps going down every year, yet that perception continues,” Michael Henningsen said.

Right now, 88 percent of fair goers come from Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

The goal is to get people from outside the metro area to visit.

Expo New Mexico hopes to have the ad campaign going before the fair in September
