ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Boxer Johnny Tapia could soon be remembered by having a community center named after him.
The Wells Park Community Center near 5th Street and Mountain could soon bear Tapia's name.
Albuquerque City Councilor Ken Sanchez says his proposal will be on the agenda in two weeks.
The five-time world champion boxer was found dead in his Albuquerque home in late May at the age of 45. Tapia won 59 of his 66 fights, but also struggled with drug addiction.
At least five city councilors must vote for the name change.
