ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A very important Christmas tree was making its way through Albuquerque Tuesday.

The U.S. Capitol Christmas tree, working its way from Colorado to Washington, D.C., made a stop at the New Mexico National Guard Armory.

The Engelmann spruce was harvested in the White River National Forest in west-central Colorado.

It is 74 years old and stands 73 feet tall.

This is the third time Colorado has provided the capitol Christmas tree, the previous times being in 1990 and 2000.

The tree will tour 30 cities during its 23-day cross country trek.

It was to be at the armory on Wyoming Boulevard NE south of Lomas until 6:30 p.m.

The tree passed through Greeley and La Junta, Colo., on Monday and will make its next stop in Amarillo on Wednesday.
