ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque firefighters responding to the 2400 block of Garfield Avenue SE found flames with a significant head start raging through a house Thursday afternoon.
The call came in about 2:30 p.m., and the first fire units on the scene reported smoke and flames to such an extent firefighters launched a defensive battle rather than a direct attack into the building.
A tall plume of black smoke was visible from much of the city.
An Albuquerque Fire Department spokesperson said the person who lived in the home was outside when the fire broke out.
The house is considered a compete loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
