ABQ Bosque restrictions begin

Access only to established paths and levee roads

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Major restrictions are coming to the Bosque in Albuquerque starting on Friday. If you plan on heading out to the area whether it's to exercise or enjoy nature you'll need to plan accordingly. The city's websites lists established dirt and bike paths as well as levee roads as the only places you can be in along the Bosque.

Earlier this week, counties that make up the middle Rio Grande portion of the state met and discussed whether shutting down the Bosque altogether would be the perfect solution to avoiding fires in the areas. Instead, Sandoval, Valencia and Socorro Counties are the only ones who chose to completely close off access to the Bosque.

Bernalillo County and the City of Albuquerque will remain open, but with restrictions like the ones going into effect on Friday. Campfires, fireworks and smoking are already prohibited.
