SANTE FE, N.M. (AP) - The Santa Fe Community Convention Center is getting a new solar power system.

City officials announced this week that the convention center is set to receive 386 panels that will cover more than 10 percent of the facility's electric use. The city of Santa Fe will purchase power at a fixed price for the next 20 years.

The convention center is slated to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at next Friday to commemorate the commissioning of the system.

Santa Fe Mayor David Coss said the solar panels are part of a larger effort to use more green energy in the city.
