ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Dairy farmers in New Mexico are looking for federal help following an especially hard year.
About 40 dairies in New Mexico have closed because of the drought, high hay prices and other economic challenges.

Experts say the proposal would create a regulated producer-paid insurance program and insure farmers and dairies can survive even in the toughest of times.
