SANTA FE (KRQE) - A Santa Fe teacher was put on leave after allegedly grabbing a blind 6-year-old special-needs student by the ankle and dragging him down a hallway.

Police say it happened in mid-November at Gonzales Community School

The teacher claims the boy was uncooperative after she asked him to walk to another classroom.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports the teacher said she was not trying to harm the boy.

Police did not identify the teacher because she has not been criminally charged and the child's family does not want to press charges.
