Sunshine Portal adds school finances

SANTA FE (AP) - Taxpayers can look to a state government web site known as the " sunshine portal " to find financial information about public districts and charter schools in New Mexico.

The Department of Information and Technology and Public Education Department say the state's web site has been updated to provide the operating budgets of schools as well as monthly spending and revenues.

For each school and a district administrative office there is a listing of jobs by title and salary but employee names are not disclosed. The salary information can be found by clicking on a button labeled, "Directory of Local Education Providers."

A law enacted in 2011 required disclosure of the education information on the website.
