Space count triggers student rocketeers

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - One hundred rockets were launched from schools all over New Mexico Thursday on command from space orbit.

The countdown came directly from the International Space Station as it passed overhead.

Nearly a dozen schools in Albuquerque took part in the event.

The project is part of the state Department of Cultural Affairs' ongoing New Mexico centennial celebration.
