FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) - A purple violin is bringing some controversy to Farmington’s Tibbits Middle School.

A student at the school, Camille Cruz was recently told that her purple violin was too distracting and that she would have to bring a more traditional one to class.

Cruz’s mother is upset about the incident and feels her daughter is justified. She told KRQE News 13 that it was like telling Axel Rose of Guns N’ Roses that he had to use a guitar from Kmart.

The district says it’s confident it can come up with an agreement that will make everyone happy.
