LAS CRUCES (KRQE) - NMSU board of regents approved a separation agreement with President Barbara Couture after she was placed on leave last week.

The board of regents met Monday to discuss President Barbara Couture's leave.

President Couture has been on leave since early last week, but the university would not say why.

A statement released by the university said Couture is on voluntary leave without offering an explanation.

An interim president is expected to be named by mid-October.

Reporter Alex Goldsmith will update this story from Las Cruces on News 13 at 4 p.m.
