ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Bernalillo County sheriff's deputies suspect alcohol may have played a role in a head-on crash on Interstate 25 early Saturday morning.
The collision happened about 2 a.m. near the Tramway Road exit in northern Albuquerque.
Deputies said it appeared the wrong-way driver heading south entered the freeway on the northbound exit to Tramway.
The driver then crashed head-on into a northbound Ford Expedition.
Both drivers and the one passenger in each vehicle were injured. One person was initially reported to be in critical condition although a later report said none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
The sheriff's DWI Unit is investigating the crash.
A spokesperson said the wrong-way driver is expected to be charged with three counts of great bodily harm by motor vehicle once he is released from the hospital..
