SILVER CITY, N.M. (AP) - Officials in Grant County believe a woman who was briefly detained in February after she tried to burn her dead husband's body has herself been found dead.

A rancher checking fence lines found a body tentatively identified as 65-year-old Patricia Ann Overton in a sleeping bag last Thursday. The woman had been dead at least six weeks.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports ( http://bit.ly/JcvWWP ) that Overton was released from jail on Feb. 25 after investigators determined her husband had died of hypothermia.

Grant County Sheriff's Lt. Fermin Lopez says deputies recognized Overton's sleeping bag and some of the belongings they returned to her when she was released from jail.

The couple had apparently been living outdoors for years. Deputies are trying to locate any of Overton's relatives.
