Woman knew man running from police

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - More information has been released about the woman police say tried to help a wanted man Saturday.
    
Police say the man may have shot at officers, which led to a high speed chase that ended with several crashes Saturday.
    
Court records say 20-year-old Meagan Fitzgerald admitted knowing Felix Romero, the man police were watching.
    
Fitzgerald also said she knew he was wanted and running from police.
   
Albuquerque police department's repeat offender project spotted 30-year-old Romero as a passenger in a silver pickup with a woman, later identified as Fitzgerald.
    
As police watched the two, officers say the suspect appeared suspicious of police and that the truck started counter surveillance.
    
At one point police say Fitzgerald dropped off Romero in a northeast Albuquerque neighborhood.
    
Police arrested Fitzgerald for harboring a felon and possession of heroin.
    
Shortly afterward, Romero and a second suspect 24-year-old Glenn Garcia pulled up behind officers and someone started shooting at police.
    
A chase began, swerving through traffic resulting in several vehicles being hit.
    
Police never shot back at the suspects, saying they could not reach a safe distance.
    
Romero and Garcia were eventually caught after their SUV crashed near Eubank and I-40.
    
Court documents state Fitzgerald initially told police quote "I am not telling you anything" Saturday.

She had her first appearance in court Sunday.

“Ms Fitzgerald I am going to pose a bond at $5,000 cash or surety…while this matter is pending you'll not possess any firearms or dangerous weapons, you'll not posses or consume any alcohol or illegal drugs,” a judge said.

No one was seriously injured in the multiple crashes.
    
Some people were taken to the hospital to be checked out.
    
Romero had recently cut off his ankle monitor and had several felony warrants including armed robbery.
