ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The woman, police say was drunk when she slammed into motorcyclist killing him , had her day in court.
Amanda Casaus faced a judge Sunday on a vehicular homicide charge, for the death of 51-year-old Peter Lafond.
Police say on Friday, Casaus was driving east on Molten Rock Road while Lafond was driving south on Unser.
Somehow Casaus pulled into Lafond's lane and hit him.
Lafound died at the scene.
Casaus tried to run off but was quickly caught and arrested.
She learned that she will be watched closely until a trial date can be set.
“Pretrial services will be added as a condition, absolutely,” Judge Maria Dominguez said. “No alcohol, no illegal drugs and make sure you get an attorney as soon as possible.”
Police say Casaus failed field sobriety tests and blew above the presumed legal level of intoxication.
Police are also awaiting blood test results.
