ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque police have arrested two people in a human trafficking case spanning three states.
Ladaniel Mitchell, 33, and Jodi Robicheaux, 21, were arrested Friday and Saturday.
Mitchell is charged with human trafficking.
Robicheaux is charged with promoting prostitution.
Albuquerque police were approached Friday by a woman claiming the two forced her into prostitution.
The case began in Indiana, where the victim claims Mitchell lured her away from work as a stripper to life as a prostitute.
The victim claims she was eventually forced to work as a prostitute in Texas and then eventually in Albuquerque.
Both suspects appeared before a judge Sunday.
Mitchell asked the judge for leniency.
“I actually don't see myself as a flight risks your honor,” Mitchell said.
The judge did not agree.
“Well you're not going to be a flight risk because I’m not going to let you leave the county of Bernalillo while this is pending,” a judge said.
Both suspects are still in jail Sunday evening.
Mitchell is on a $50,000 cash or surety bond and Robicheaux on a $15,000 cash or surety bond.
