ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The federal trial is underway for a convicted sex offender accused of holding an Eldorado High School girl against her will and threatening her with a gun.
In 2010, the student claimed Christian Sangiovanni became obsessed with her and had gained access to some sexually explicit pictures of her.
The girl claims Sangiovanni caught up with her at a convenience store and threatened her with a gun, telling her he would killer her then himself.
He faces 10 years in prison if convicted.
The trial is in federal court because he was a convicted felon who failed to register as a sex offender and had a firearm during the incident.
