HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) - A 17-year-old boy, who murdered an elderly woman in Hobbs, is going to prison for a very long time.

Juan Rivas Junior was sentenced to 43 years.

He was only 15-years-old when he broke into the home of 83-year-old Clara Alvarez and s tabbed her to death in her bed.

Rivas then took off in Alvarez' car.

That is how police tracked him down.

Rivas never gave a motive, but he told police in his initial interview that he “was just going at her...getting is anger out...he was just laughing."

Rivas was given the maximum sentence.
