ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - On May 15 thieves broke into a van parked at an Albuquerque motel stealing rare and handmade musical instruments used by an Asian troupe in town for a festival.
The Alash Ensemble also lost costumes and passports during the break-in at the Motel 6 at 1000 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE. The group, known as throat singers, is from a remote village in Siberia and was in Albuquerque to perform at the Festival of Asian Cultures.
They went ahead with their performance although without their costumes and instruments.
Anyone with information on the crime can contact Crime Stoppers at 843-STOP (843-7867) or visit the Crime Stoppers website . Tipsters do not have to give their names to be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
