OJO CALIENTE, N.M. (KRQE) - Drug raiders acting on a tip swooped into a marijuana plantation near Ojo Caliente Monday seizing hundreds of large plants fed by a solar-powered irrigation system.

No arrests were made, and investigators are now trying to identify the grower or groers, according to a statement released by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety.

New Mexico State Police criminal agents reported finding 250 plants each 6-8 feet tall.  They were being watered by a drip line linked to a hand-dug well with a solar-powered pump.

The DPS did not release the location of the grow operation, but photos show an area typical of a broad section of national forest and private lands around Ojo Caliente, a small community on U.S. Highway 285 in Rio Arriba County about 25 miles northwest of  Española.

No dollar value was placed on the haul.
