ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An Albuquerque woman is charged with child abuse even though her child has not been born yet.
Elizabeth Ramirez faced a judge Sunday on a slew of charges, including child abuse.
According to a criminal complaint, Ramirez was pulled over for a traffic violation in October.
The officer says the eight month pregnant Ramirez was fidgety and nervous.
After lying about her identity to avoid being arrested for a probation violation Ramirez finally said that she had used syringes and heroin in her purse.
She was rushed to the hospital, where staff told police Ramirez is on heroin and meth and her unborn baby is in very bad health.
Ramirez is on drug watch at MDC and found out Sunday she wont be getting out anytime soon.
“I am going to increase your bond to $20,000 cash or surety in this case…unless the no bond hold is lifted on the other case,” a judge said.
Ramirez is also charged with concealing identity and drug paraphernalia.
