ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Bernalillo county sheriff's investigators are investigating how a 3-month-old died Sunday in the East Mountains.

Investigators were called to the family home Sunday morning near Frost Road in Sandia Park.

The baby was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff's department says even though there is nothing so far to suggest foul play, they are treating the case as a suspicious death.

“I’m sure it's a hard time for the family so we're taking that into consideration but we are doing a very thorough investigation making sure we have all the evidence and everything covered,” Lt. Sid Covington said.

Investigators say it's entirely possible the child died of natural causes.

They immediately started interviewing the child's parents to try and figure out what happened.
