Patrols up after school shooting plot

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Three students have been suspended after a possible plot to shoot up Hoover Middle School.

Officials held a press briefing Thursday morning and police say they are now stepping up patrols around the school.

APS says it came to light Wednesday morning when one of them tipped the principal of the school about it, complete with a diagram.

Six kids were involved but only three are APS students.

The district does not think the threat was credible because no weapons were found at their homes.

Parents are puzzled and worried:

“You’re wondering, what is the situation, why are they making these threats, are they being bullied themselves? Are these retaliation tactics? You really don't know, it's so up in the air, it's scary it could happen at such young ages,” Tanya Otero said.

The three suspended students are sixth, seventh and eighth graders.
