ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police say they have seen a rise in a home alarm scheme.
Officials say they've gotten a lot of complaints about people going door to door supposedly selling new alarm systems.
They say the sales people are tricking homeowners into buying pricey security systems they don't need and can even set them up for future burglaries.
Cops say many of the tactics sellers use is saying homeowners need to upgrade their current alarm systems or that a company went out of business.
“What we're finding is we're getting a lot of people calling in inquiring and of course complaining as well that these individuals are very aggressive, very pushy,” Officer Robert Gibbs said.
Police say if you do suspect alarm salesmen are trying to dupe you, call the police department's false alarm reduction unit at 768-2144.
