LAS CRUCES (KRQE) - A New Mexico state university basketball player has pleaded not guilty to felony battery for an attack on a fellow student.

Senior forward Tyrone Watson, 22, is accused of severely beating 19-year-old Miguel Rascon at a party in Las Cruces in january.

Rascon was treated for facial fractures and a gash that required 13 stitches.

Watson publicly apologized and admitted to punching Rascon because he thought he was dancing with his girlfriend.

Watson was suspended from the team, but is now playing again.
