LAS CRUCES (KRQE) - A New Mexico State University basketball player, who was allegedly texting while driving, has been charged with vehicular homicide.
Emery Coleman, 19, crashed into another car outside an Almogordo Kmart in January of last year, fatally injuring 85-year-old Clarence Boulanger.
Police say Coleman was texting at the time.
Coleman, who was a basketball standout at Tularosa High School, was enrolled at New Mexico State when the accident occurred.
He was a redshirt last year and did not play but is on the roster this year and has played in three games.
