ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Cities across the U.S. are holding memorial services for the victims in the Connecticut school shooting Saturday, including in New Mexico.
Albuquerque residents held a candlelight vigil at a local playground for the smallest victims of this tragedy and the adults that tried to protect them.

Dozens of people gathered at Albuquerque’s Tiguex Park in Old Town Saturday night.
They played music, prayed and lit candles in remembrance of the victims.
People also put up 27 luminarias, one for each of the people who died.
Many attendees say they're also praying for an end to gun violence..
“The recognition that something needs to be done that we need to come together just as a city as a state or as a country but as a planet,” Kristin Leve said.
Kristin's brother knows one of the children killed Friday and said for her the situation is especially heartbreaking.
Also in Santa Fe, crowds gathered at St. Bede's Episcopal Church to mourn and honor the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.
A prayer service was held earlier Saturday afternoon.
