ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Close to $2,000 worth of traffic control signs have been stolen in Rio Rancho.

Now police are offering $1,000, to anyone with information leading to an arrest.

Rio Rancho police say more than one person is taking road closure and directional signs in the northern part of the city.

They say if they don't catch the thieves, the community could be in jeopardy.

"Our biggest fear if we don't catch these individuals who are responsible is that they may move on to signs that are of a more safety-oriented nature,” Sgt. Nicholas Onken said.

If you know anything that could lead to an arrest, call Rio Rancho Police or Crime Stoppers at 843-7867.
