Albuquerque (KRQE) - The man charged in the Friday robbery of a credit union branch has been in trouble with the law before.
James Charles Mollohan, 35, has been convicted in the past for armed robbery, kidnapping, and rape.
Mollohan was wanted for violating his probation when he was busted for robbing the Coors branch of New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union. Department of Corrections workers say Mollohan was on probation for the armed robbery of a convenience store employee in 2005.
According to documents filed Monday in federal court, Mollohan walked into the credit union Friday afternoon. He allegedly pulled a gun on a teller, demanded money from her, and even threatened to shoot her. The teller triggered a silent alarm as she handed over around $1,300 in cash and change.
It was the second time in just three days that the same credit union was robbed by a man who looks a lot like Mollohan.
He was arrested, and confessed to the robbery Friday. In his pockets, officers found a handgun, ammunition and a little more than $1,300.
The FBI has not said yet if Mollohan is the same mustached man who committed five other bank robberies in the last few weeks. A FBI spokesperson did say those other robberies are under investigation.
