ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - An Albuquerque man who fled to Mexico after being charged with raping a 13-year-old girl has been captured and returned to the U.S.

The U.S. Marshals Service says they learned 36-year-old Brad Boyer was living in Puerto Vallarta with his girlfriend. Deputy marshals based in Mexico went to the Pacific coast city and worked to have him arrested.

The Marshals Service said Friday that the Mexican government expelled Boyer and his girlfriend. Boyer was brought back to face charges in Albuquerque on April 22.

Boyer was arrested and charged with raping the girl in July 2011, and an arrest warrant was issued in February after he failed to show up for a court date.
