ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - New information has been released in the hit-and-run death of a young girl Friday night.

A criminal complaint states the suspect, Milan Darr, 71, claimed he hit a dog in the south valley street where the girl was killed.

Officials say 15-month-old Ivana Valenciano had wandered away from a family gathering and onto the street when she was hit.

Sheriff's officials said Sunday they are confident Darr was aware he had in fact hit a child but then took off.

Darr made his first appearance before a judge Sunday, who raised his bond to $100,000 cash or surety.
