ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An Albuquerque man is accused of using an elderly woman’s checking account to pay his cable and phone bills.

Robert Lopez, 34, appeared before a judge Sunday facing several charges including fraud, forgery, conspiracy and identity theft.

According to a criminal complaint Lopez’s wife works at the Assisted Living Center on Palomas Northeast where the victim lives.

The victim told police she was contacted by her bank saying someone was using her checking account to make hundreds of dollars worth of payments to Comcast and Verizon Wireless.

Lopez bonded out of jail Sunday night.

Officials say Lopez’s wife, Annette Lopez, could also face possible charges.
