HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) - A man wanted out of Texas was arrested in Hobbs Sunday night after a fatal crash.
Police believe 33-year-old Eloy Lopez was either high or drunk when he was spotted driving erratically.
When they tried to pull him over, police say Lopez sped off, headed into oncoming traffic and intentionally tried to hit police cars.
Eventually, Lopez lost control of his car and crashed.
His passenger, Debra Lara Gonzales, 30, of Hobbs, died at the hospital.
Police say Lopez was wanted out of Texas for violating his probation in an attempted murder case.
Charges related to the crash are pending.
