La Cueva High warns of lewd strangers

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A second La Cueva High School student has reported a man displaying lewd behavior--in this case exposing himself--near the campus, according to a letter being sent to parents and guardians Thursday.

The incident on Wednesday happened about 1 p.m. on Wilshire Avenue NE just east of the campus.

The man in a light-blue four-door Toyota attempted to start a conversation with the girl.

"The stranger tried to ask her about the school parking lot, but she walked away," the letter, which is also posted on the La Cueva website, said.  "She reported the incident to police today.  The student wasn't injured but was frightened."

Police are increasing patrols in the area, and students are being encouraged to be alert and not walk alone, according to the letter.

Last week another student walking in the same area reported she was approached by a stranger who rolled down his car window and made lewd comments.  That car was described as small and dark green with four doors.

The men in both incidents have similar descriptions: dark complexion, medium build and in their late 20s to early 30s.
