ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A man suspected of being high on heroin is charged with child abuse after police say he left his two young kids alone at Walmart.
Albuquerque police say Sean McMurray, 41, was at the store on Carlisle Boulevard NE on the night of Jan. 16 when he left his shopping cart with the two children inside.
Investigators say he was caught on surveillance cameras going into the restrooms and doing some shopping on his own.
About a half an hour later police say McMurray went to look for the children but couldn't find them.
That's when he had a conversation with his girlfriend and left the store.
Management took the children to safety before anything could happen to them.
Police say McMurray was high on heroin.
