ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - One of the men involved in the death of an Albuquerque swim coach two years ago has been acquitted of murder.
A jury found Joseph Allen not guilty of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of Michael Checkley, 24.
Police had said Allen and Robert Sanchez were walking home from a party near Golf Course Road and Irving Boulevard NW when they got into a fight with Checkley.
Checkley was stabbed five times and died at a hospital.
Sanchez was sentenced earlier this year to seven years in prison on aggravated battery and tampering with evidence.
