ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Lawyers for the man charged with vehicular homicide in the death of a toddler tried unsuccessfully Thursday to spring him from jail.

A judge rejected their arguments and declined to lower Mariano Salaz's $250,000 bond.

Salaz, 20, was released on bond after the Aug. 25 crash that injured 2-year-old Vicente Griego , who was in his family's car when it was hit from behind.

When the boy died a few days later, Salaz was charged with vehicular homicide and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center since then.
