ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - KRQE News 13 has learned a New Mexico Appeals Court Judge has been arrested on aggravated DWI charges. Police said Judge Robert Robles was pulled over around 1 a.m. Wednesday in Albuquerque after allegedly running a red light.

The police department said he was given a blood test and his blood-alcohol level was at or above .16 percent -- that is more than twice the state's presumed level of intoxication.

APD said Robles was arrested and released about 10 to 12 hours later on his own recognizance.

The judge has taken a voluntary, unpaid leave of absence from the appeals court, effective immediately.

Robles has been on the state court of appeals since 2008. He won re-election to the court in Fall 2010.
